term 3 week 1 Wednesday
Today we learnt about how to use crayon and dye processes for art.

This week we had a couple  of wet days inside . We made such a good job of putting the wet day games away that Mrs Stirling gave us a 'new' game of pool.

Now we just have to remember to look after the pool table and put it away properly  so all the pieces are ready for us to share and have fun next time.

Term 3 week 1
This week the year 3 students went to a  Rippa Rugby skills session with Noah. We learn how to throw , catch and to work as a team.

This week was "Passion Week" the children chose  an activity that they were interested on and when to the teacher or classroom where that Passion activity was.
Room 9 studied Garden to table. Many of the room 9 students joined this activity. We had fun digging gardens and planing out: bok choy, mustard seed, flowers and strawberries. The gardens are looking much tidier. We also had  a delicious soup and apple crumble which we cooked ourselves. thank you to Maua Gus, Whaea Lee  and room 11 who also joined the Garden to Table Passion.

term 2 week 4
This week we had our Stem Challenge. Our challenge was an Umbrella challenge . The children had to design a house  that would protect their tissue paper person from the rain. We had fun designing and testing our house  and some anxious moments when water was sprinkled over our houses. All of our tissue paper' people' stayed dry so we were successful. One was accidentally dropped in the water. We sang 'Oh no don't let the Rain come Down.
The Stem Challenge was a lot of fun. thank you to those parents who visited and helped us. Look for the stem challenges on line they're great activities for wet weekends. The children worked together to solve the problem and learnt from each other.
Umbrella STEM Challenge - create a shelter to keep a tissue dry
week 2 term 2
This week we had a lesson on recycling to help the children understand about 'Zero Waste' The children are being encouraged to sort waste into: paper, scraps and folded milk cartons to be recycled at school. The children's  lunch wrappings will now be sent home  so the school has Zero Waste to dispose of. Your children will have ideas about how to reduce waste packaging form today's lesson.
week 2
On Friday our class went to the Dairy Farm for a visit. We saw dairy cows being milked. Some of the children even got to actually  milk a cow for a minute. We saw the calves and everyone got a chance to fed them using a bottle. The children were also able to experiment with making butter and eating it. Just before we went home the milk tanker arrived to pick up milk . It was an exciting day. Our children understand where milk comes from and what dairy farmers do.
